Maryland Atheist Outreach

We Respect Believers, Not Beliefs

Hi, welcome to the site!

Our goal is R.E.A.S.O.N.

Raise awareness that atheists are just as friendly, ethical and decent as any other group of people.

Encourage rational discussion about religion, faith, ethics, and related subjects.

Apprise society that atheists are not a peripheral, timid minority. We are more numerous than most realize.

Support atheists who are dealing with negative stigmas and discrimination due to their realistic outlook and lack of belief.

Oppose theocratic politics and movements at the local, state and federal levels.

Nurture a sense of community among those who value rationality above blind faith.

Having been officially founded around the 20th of April, we're still in the beginning stages of our organization, but have been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm.

We hold meetings to socialize and discuss topics of interest. We also attend events of interest, as a group, such as talks, protests, movies, and the like. Finally, we will have "outreach" events which will involve going to various public areas such as museums, events, etc. where we can raise awareness of and spread information about atheism. Those who would like to are strongly encouraged to wear atheist t-shirts, hats, etc. and engage in respectful, rational discussion with people interested in learning more about atheism. Of course, in all things, we strive to have a good time!

We welcome anyone who supports our goals, and wishes to participate in any of the events so long as they respect others, and wish to have sensible discussions.

Please visit our Meetup Page for information pertaining to get-togethers, events and protests in Maryland. Also, please explore the rest of this site for items of interest to you. We still have a lot to add, but there is already a great deal of content for you to enjoy.

If you've been invited to join Maryland Atheists via this website, or have otherwise stumbled onto it and are interested in joining, visit the meetup page linked above. If you have questions about the website or the organization, please contact me, Rudy Henkel.
